Hill Holiday has abandoned its regular website in favor of a blog, reports AdRants. It's not the first time this has been done, but I guess it's the first time somebody noticed.
I wish every Ad Agency would do this. I was just trolling around on the Hill Holiday blog/site and read some really arresting POVs from people there I've never heard of. Their blog allows their talent to raise their hands and be counted as experts. And to me, that means I've got some interesting and provocative prospective speakers for upcoming shows. Not just because they're interesting and provocative - but because they're willing to go on the record about it (which fails to happen more often than you'd expect).
Conference programming should be Pull: I should be able to see who is doing what and how well, and invite them to come speak. But more often than not, it's Push: prospective speakers or their PR reps contact me with a pitch, and they secure a spot on stage. In some cases, they're great. In others, they'll do. I don't like producing conferences with speakers who will do. But sometimes it's a near impossibility to reach the right person, or even determine who the right person is.
What Hill Holiday is doing makes my job easier, and my shows better. So thanks, Hill Holiday. Now let's talk about OMMA EAST.
